It’s no secret that social networks today are of great use to find like-minded people. Whether promoting one’s services and products, or just catching up on the latest news and gossip with acquaintances, each user has a different need. As such, social networks offer different and unique services in order to standout and survive. BlogSoc.com captured my attention and in this article I wish to share my personal opinion and experience with this fairly new social community that I’m a member of.
Targeting not only blog owners, but also readers, what makes BlogSoc unique is their promise to pay you for being a member. Of course, filling in a registration form and clicking the register button is not sufficient to be paid—a member needs to participate…to be active in other words.
After a simple registration process you may upload your avatar and post information about your society all around your blog including your society’s name, a URL to your blog, RSS, a URL to any picture that you want to use as your society’s thumbnail, a description, and tags. Later, you may edit details as well as mass message your society’s members by clicking on the “Society Board” link.
Currently there are 97 members and you can search throughout 49 societies by clicking on the “Societies” menu at the top of your profile. The “All Societies” page contains a full list of societies that have been added by members and are separated by dashed lines. In my opinion, this display is a little confusing—the combination of lowercase and capital letters, symbols, and a homogenous font color and size layout forces me to ask aloud: “So what am I supposed to do with all these dancing characters?”
BlogSoc members have a great opportunity to inform other members about the contests and activities on their blogs. I find this feature to be really useful if you intend to use BlogSoc seriously for promotional purposes. Moreover, you are allowed to add HTML tags.
The BlogSoc owners have even designed a widget that is similar to those from MyBlogLog and BlogCatalog. This widget is a great way to send your blog’s visitors to BlogSoc and for you to earn extra points if they register under the referral link. Nice feature, isn’t it? This widget, as well as BlogSoc banners and buttons, can be found in the tools section.
Overall, BlogSoc is a really good social networking website that doesn’t waste time with extras and eye candy. If you like a blog that is easy to read, navigate, and understand, BlogSoc is the site for you.
How are you. Beware the pull on your heartstrings -- it's often the pursestrings that are actually being reached for.
